Spamalot

Posted 07-18-2010 at 11:09 AM by OddjobAbe
I went to Leeds to watch Spamalot with my brother yesterday. It was fantastic. Best laugh I've had in ages. Eric Idle was fantastic, despite not being in much of it. He's done a great job adapting The Holy Grail for the stage. It's a big piss-take of all that fucking stupid Andrew Lloyd Webber stuff. It was really well-done. Not one person was mis-cast. Absolutely hilarious. Todd Carty was brilliant as Patsy. Very, very good stuff.

I thought the title of this blog was you raging over the threads that have been created recently, I was sadly disappointed.

I saw it when it came through here. It was performed by local talent though, so no such wonderful cameos. Still grand though.

I really like watching things in which it is local (or near-local) people taking part. I wouldn't say it's better than watching somebody more recognisable, but it's certainly different. There's always a really nice spirit in things like that.

The performance was mixed actually. You could tell which cast members were already huge fans of the film and already knew the lines by heart, and those who had never seen it/never cared for it and gave a lackluster performance.

I intially read the title of this blog as 'Spermalot'. I blame all of you for this.
