Unemployment and Boredom.

I've been feeling so fucking down lately. A couple of reasons really, but mainly because of me not having a job for ages.

I've been unemployed since June of last year. Ever since then I've been looking everywhere for just something. Anything. Full time, part time, I don't care. Just within reason. I refuse to do any jobs involving me either holding up a sign, being dressed as a giant pizza or shouting "Big Issue!" All I want is money and something to mix up my day.

I'm back with the job center. I avoided it for ages cause all they do it stress me out. And yup. Yet again i'm writing down every job I've applied for in this diary and get benefits ever 2 weeks. Only trouble is. The job center do not help with the job searching and it only puts even more pressure looking for a job.

I seriously need some proper help. someone to guide me. The job center ain't helping. All they want is to see you looking for work. they don't care about your future or how you feel.

I still have no fucking clue what I want to do and where I'm going to be in 5 years time. I'm stuck in a rut. In my room playing games, recording videos, Day in. Day out. And to be honest. It's got to the point where it's fucking dull. Yes I still love gaming, of course I do. But doing anything for weeks and weeks over and over again gets boring.

It's also becoming a problem. I've gained a pain in my right wrist from using the mouse all the time. It's expected RSI, and it's seriously getting me even more down. I can't use the computer for long without it coming back. I need to take a break but it's pretty difficult to do so. All my job searching is done on the PC and I need to try and maintain my YouTube Channel.

What makes it worse is pretty much everyone I know is moving on in their lives. Stable jobs, studying at Uni, have girlfriends, hell. One my mates is recently engaged. I feel like I've just been left behind. Nothing special about me. Nothing noteworthy. Just a guy who plays games and has no fucking life to speak of.

So yeah. I need some advice guys. What do I do... Where do I go. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

One word: spontaneity.
The next new thing, just that catches your eye just go for it and see where it takes you, it could lead to a job or even an all new life. Just don't stop YouTubeing because your videos are the best.

Is the job centre really that useless? Surely there's some position somewhere they might be able to get you into?

Otherwise go to a recruitment agency if there's one near you. It might get you the odd shift somewhere.

Let's see if I can put my two cents in.

2 years ago I found myself at the end of a 4 year degree in Film and Photography, with very little idea of how I was going to realistically get a job in the field. Competition is fierce in any of the popular cities , and that high stress lifestyle wasn't for me.
Landing myself back at my dad's place, I decided that the safest order of business was to sign up with a local temp agency. During school I had survived the off months with landscaping and painting jobs, garnering a great appreciation for handy work.
Now your Mileage may vary, as my had, as the first job I had at this temp agency was not landscaping, but a warehouse job, doing product assembly. But it was work, a steady paycheck that allowed me to entertain a comfortable lifestyle while searching for the job I wanted.
... Turns out I didn't need to look long, as the company I was temping at was relatively small, and the owner came out and I was able to let him know what I went to school for, and it just so happened that he was looking for a new graphics/Photography person. What are the odds? Pretty big, I know, but for me, that temp position was better than any resume, and I was able to get a job that showcased my skills.
Bow, less than two years later, the company I work for was sold to a company on the other side of the country, and gyess where I am? Just spent my first month in this new place, just bought my apartment and am still experiencing the whiplash.

Will your path be like my own? Who the hell knows. The odds say no, but the important thing is that you put yourself out there. You have skills, I'm sure. Nowadays it's very much who you know as much as it is what you know, so put yourself out there, let the universe work its magic! And we can hope that two years from now, we can see another post that shows us how you are still recovering from the whiplash.

I know the feeling. I think I might start exercising. Properly at first, then progressively less properly.

Ugh, fucking job centres mate. Do your mum and dad have any connections? A lot of getting a job is who you know, not what you know. Speak to your parents and ask of they have any friends that might be looking for employees. Never know, might end up doing some you never even thought of.

I've been looking for that little job that catches my eye. I thought I found the ideal job for me. But no luck getting in. Oh and I will never stop making YouTube videos.

Everyone is nice and all. And I do claim money that I fully deserve. Its just they don't make an effort to help you. They don't look out for you, I wanted them to use their knowledge and connections to get me out there. All they do is see your actively seeking work then tell you to come back a week later.

I'm currently looking into some agencies. Hopefully they'll have something better.

Just proves that nothing is certain. Life is strange like that. I've avoided uni cause I knew for a fact it wouldn't get me a job. Apprenticeships seem to be the way to go nowadays. The fact is costs so much and ends up with you with a ton of money needed to owe doesn't sit right with me either.

Cheers, you too. I'm looking into temp agencies also. I said I'm willing to do anything, just so long it isn't soul crushingly horrible. I need the money, but I don't want to loose my sanity even more. :P

Dude, my mum is a learning support staff and my mum is interior specifications, they both work with mentally handicapped folk but their jobs are as different as it gets, all it takes is for them to know someone.
