While I type it up, here's a guy who *seems* to have a hold of the issue as well:

Okay, I'm done...
"Oddworld is back on the map, and the series is wasting no time keeping its good fortunes going. Developer Oddworld Inhabitants has announced the follow-up to Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath, titled Fangus. The game takes place in the forested hills of a land known as Fangustan. Our new hero is Fangus, a shepherd that dutifully fends off predators and leads the beasts under his charge to popberry fields - until one day when Invaders arrive and thrust Fangus into the role of savior for all the nations of Oddworld. Fangus has his own personal race against time; he must thwart the Invaders' plans before the madness of rabies engulfs him.
Publisher Majesco says that the title will likely receive an M-rating from the ESRB because of its darker content. Perhaps this is the reason why Stranger’s Wrath publisher Electronic Arts is not handling the project. The mix of third- and first-person action from the last Oddworld title returns, as does GameSpeak and destructible environments. However, this is just the beginning for Fangus. Getting to utilize the shepherd’s less-than-cuddly flock is surely on the agenda. Fangus will appear on Xbox next year, but keep your eyes peeled for more."
Also, I checked with Kinko's and they don't do copyrighted material, so I'll try to hit a library tomorrow.
And sorry for the double-post.

interesting but this is weird:

All nations of Oddworld seems a bit too much for a hero.

I like the idea of a new hero, especially one with this much badassery...

a bigger hero then Abe seems simply impossible to me...
and where would those invaders come from? they have to come from oddworld itself, but how could they invade the whole oddworld at once.

I'm worried about the release on Xbox next year... by that time, next-gen consoles will be out, and Xbox will be obsolete! Plus, it's been announced that the next Xbox won't be backwards compatible, so I hope they mean to release it for the Xbox Next.

If it is true, it's obviously doubtful that he is the saviour of all of Oddworld, or that the invaders are taking over the entire planet. Probably just the area he is in, or country. Which could be anything.

Actually Xenon is BC, you just have to buy the HD to use that function...
Besides, systems and dates change all the time...

I think only time will tell. If this is to be published in two weeks, then we will read about it in two weeks on oddworld.com. Or sooner, since its already out now anyway.

It sounds a bit corny. OWI inhabitants said there won't be any contact out side of oddworld, and mabey they mean invador from a different region. It sound a bit un believable. But hey, thats what we thought about the " horse/gorrila man" talking to it's boat.

I think whoever said Afghanistan is right on the money...
Think about it, "shepherd", "invaders," darker content and so on...
It's OIFreedom all over again...

Yeah, Dipstikk is totally right. Fangistan = Afghanistan. Sounds good, but it's just that they did such a great job with Stranger, I don't see why they'd scrap that and do an entirely new project. Or maybe it has something to do with Stranger... hmmm....

Oh, and Lawnchair, are you sure they're gonna make it BC? Cuz that would be totally cool, and I'm hoping for it. And you're right, dates do change quite a bit when it comes to games.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm excited to finally hear about another game that paves darkness over humour, though the humour is still welcome.

I also think that the phrase "all the nations of Oddworld" seems a bit over-dramatic, and that kind of "save the whole world" cliche has always been something that Oddworld's plots avoided. That could be the magazine writer's choice of words, though, as opposed to a direct Inhabitant quote.

I also hope that the term Invaders is just geographical. If we end up with aliens invading Oddworld, I'll be extremely disappointed at such a weather-worn plot device, and if (God forbid) humans show their pasty faces, the dictionary will need new definitions for "pissed off"...

Time will tell...

What are you talking about? Oddworld would never show humans or else their message wouldn't seem as strong or as subtle. The same goes with "aliens." Why would there be aliens? That has nothing to do with the sociological or psychological problems we face today. Get with it.

Anyways, I hope this is true, but I have one question to the topic creator: Was it a HIGH QUALITY RENDER? or a SKETCH of a character? It could mean the deciding factor for some as it's harder to render things while sketching is loads easier and therefore easier to make up for a April fools joke.... Then again, the popularity of Oddworld is mainly niche, so I'd gather that they wouldn't go through such lengths. Smash bros? Yes. Zelda? Yes. Oddworld? Who would care other than us?
