What about Squeek???

Are there anybody who are not pleased with this situation? I was very curious about the next Oddworld game, Squeek's Oddysee....By the way,who is Squeek? is it a Slig or something else??

There's nothing really known about this game because it never got publicized. I guess it was because of the publisher. Once Lorne Lanning told things about them and their "rules" about games and stuff, so I think maybe this was the reason why Oddworld Inhabitants didn't make that game.

Squeek was intended to be a member of a species low on the food chain.
The only game that comfirmed a slig protagionest was sligstorm but it was unrealesed.

Hm... so that's what Squeek is. what would be interesting would be that he is one of the last Meeches. So you either play as him or as someone else to save him from his horrible yet tastey end.

According to one or two Oddworld Inhabitants (I can't remember who off the top of my head), Squeek is a never before seen creature on Oddworld. However, among fans Squeek is widely rumoured to be a symbiotic Slurg (as Slurgs are non-sentient otherwise) as they are definitely low on the food chain, and make a 'squeekish' noise when trodden on.

Paul O'Connor hinted that there was much more to Slurgs than we know: "But rest assured we do have big plans for Slurgs -- there is much more to them than you've seen so far." - Paul O'Connor, March 2000

I always thought liked to have seen Squeek, since it would be interesting to see a character that actually is weak in physical form.

Now, I am getting the little idea that Squeek has something to do with Slurgs. I would be interested to see more of the Slurgs, since they were little annoyances in AE.

I have my doubts on Squeek being a Slig. Mainly since SligStorm seemed like the only Slig game planned in my head.

Hmm...thats very interesting infos....I am very unpleased with the fact that we will never know who,or what Squeek was... But I don't think it is a Slurg..That is just TOO low creature..Maybe Sligs live in a some kind of symbiosis...

We have allreday seen creatiures with weak physical form..Munch is not very muscular.. Violator will be eaten....;-)

But, I want to see living meeches....Hmm..How about a game that takes place BEFORE Abes Oddysee ?? Prequel...You know..And see Oddworld as it was..Maybe that was Squeek planned..Ups, this is more likely good for Fan-fiction....

The Gorman Disenza virus was a topic of much discussion that ended when I threatened to firebomb the forums unless everyone agreed with me that Paul O'Connor only used it as a hypothetical example of a plot point that would bridge from an FMV to gameplay rather than list any spoilers from the actual game.

I always thought that Squeek might have been one of the Ratz. But depending on when the game was sort of 'imagined' maybe it was before MO, but I am unsure.
A Meech does seem possible. It sort of fits the name, and, technically speaking, we haven't seen the actual creature, only a vague poster thing. The one image on TOGG was never exactly released within an official Oddworld media. I never found it on the official site, and it's not in the book either.

As for an actual game possibility, I think it's a bit late now, surely? I think it died a horrible death or something and was scrapped, like the Fangus idea. Actually, I don't know about Fangus. It may have been put to the side for now. I recall seeing a pic of a magazine preview, and there was an actual picture of Fangus. But I still doubt anything's happening. But who knows? We know well nigh nothing about what OI is actually doing right now. It's still unlikely though.

Except that development of Fangus actually started, whereas Squeek’s Oddysee hadn’t. Besides, Lorne and Sherry are now working on projects that will try to release a feature film and an interactive game at the same time, so by the time the third chapter of the Oddworld Quintology hits our big screens, there should be a game of it.

Lorne isn't the only person. Sherry McKenna definitely knows who Squeek is, and what his story is. After all, Squeek was the first character Lorne presented her with. I'm fairly sure a few key Oddworld Inhabitants, both past and (diminished) present have also been clued in, Paul O'Connor for sure.
