Game Making with Plexius

Hey!

I wanted to say that i am making a Oddworld game. It's going to use sprites made by Axryl, If i am spelling his name right. I have asked him for permission to use his sprites, hopefully he still signs in . Anywho, back to the subject, I am going to be working on this pretty much all day sence I have nothing better to be doing. Also, im sure SligStorm you still login, I saw your sprites you made and i have a idea for your character, If i use your sprite, i was thinking of making your sligstorm guy a rogue slig that trys to help abe get access to w/e in the level etc etc. Just a idea still thinking of levels and situations to put Abe in at the moment, but I am getting alot of sprites and making a few for landscape and levers and things like that. Anyone that wishes to help, You are free to just post your ideas and etc etc Anyone that helps will get credit. and Everytime i have a new level done, ill update the download link for the game once i get a tester copy done. I hope this is the right place to be posting this.

I Havn't thought of any names to call this game yet. But Something OddLike would be awesome. As i said, anyone that wishes to help just post also, sligstorm, im pming you now xD

Yeh I made this mistake three times, I got 1/2 way through each game each one better than before but I never finished any

EDIT: I will probably have something to show in my next post or so. Promise . Hopefully, ill have at least 1 level with shit working right :P

Gamemaker, im experienced with this, ive made 3d games with it, i wanted to make a abe 3d but that will take AGES! and yes alex, ill get you ur screenies

programs like gamemaker just sucks. As far as i know their capabilities are very limited. You can create more modding other game but it will require more skill (If you aren't super talented, then it is really hardo to do alone)

I agree heavily with Farteuss as I'm yet to see a fan-game here that has reached completion.

Plexius, if you're interested in making an Oddworld fan-game I highly suggest you join the FanWerkz team (http://tabbicat.co.uk/forums/forumdi...hp?13-FanWerkz) and convince us to keep going.
The Fanwerkz team is low on progression and I'd like to see that change.

And yes, Oddey, you are correct. Slat did pass a rule against posting fan-games without content. Here's the proof:

Used to be my overall online name. It became HollowCarnix as opposed to just 'Carnix' about a week after I joined here. I plan on changing it to LT Mattmoo but I'm not going to bother changing my name on these forums so I'm just dropping the 'Hollow' here.

Very useful thread. Be sure to rep Joshkrz when you get there.

As for my sprites: Let it be known that, for the sprites given directory within the above linked thread, I no longer consider it necessary to ask for my permission for use. I would, however, humbly ask for credit as it's due and to be notified if possible how, where and when you wish to use my sprites.

Please, by all means, if my sprites are ever asked about, quote me to clear things up.

Good luck Plexius. It's been said before, but Game maker isnt' very good for making anything more than a simple minigame. But even so, I suppose that with a lot of hard work and dedication you can churn out a decent fangame. I just hope you stay committed to the project, because I've tried to make a game with GM a long time ago, and after getting really excited and planning the game I managed to make one level, and then realised that I have no knowledge of basic programming, and no talent for drawing.

Hope to see some screens or something soon, and could we see some examples of the 3D games you've made in the past?

Okay, well i used to be a fan of Naruto, kinda still am, and me and like 3 ppl were working on a game, i got alot of the 3d done, but i couldent get it quite right, like on some halfs of the buildings it would crap out and you could see through one side or its mising a side and i needed to increase the brightness in it, ill have a screenie of the oddgame here soon. working on a level now and i need a lever sprite so imma make one of those.anywho, heres the picture of the 3d game i was working on

no such thing I don't believe, it has the timer on your game save. At least on PS1 version anywho
