The pace of change: an Oddworld RPG
‘’Lol Roleplaying.’’ – Everyone on this idea
Hello one and all, all and one, and welcome to the information, rules and sign-up thread for the only RPG on this forum! I know, for I have looked, that there have been very very few RPG’s on this sight, and several of them appear to have been storyline driven by the GM. In my experience this leads to a lack of player motivation, as they feel they are ‘’means-to-an-end’’ in a story pre-defined by another.
As such, this RPG will be different, I am providing the basic ‘’map’’ of an area in which the game shall take place, as well as a few basic guidelines on how to ‘’run’’ your part of the map, and shall then be joining you as a player!
The premise of this RPG is a simple ‘’Industrialists vs Natives’’ story, where players play as either a heartless Moolah earning Capitalist, or a tribal nature loving native. The plan is to further the desires and power or your own ‘faction’ as well as to ensure that you stay on top of the pile inside your own faction. For an Industrialist you do this through (If you’re a Glukkon) making products and burning down forests to make room for factories, before selling those products to make Moolah. If you’re a Native, you fight back, protecting nature, and freeing the wage slaves from the factories.
In order to keep everything balanced, player factions will have separate threads, and factions will be made up of teams (ie: industrialists would have a food factory team, made up of the Glukkon player, and the slig player who managed security). Every post players post an action at the bottom of the post, expanding their factory realistically (ie: You cannot just build Rupture farms!’’) or taking over a neighbouring tribe! After everyone has posted, I shall post an ‘’Update’’ bringing everything up to speed, and informing people of world events!
I provide an example of a starting out Industrialists post:
The young Glukkon looked out over a wide expanse of open land with culminated at the tree line to the forest. He had only just arrived from the ‘’big city’’ and already he was running out of Cigars. It was not a situation any Glukkon wanted to be in. However, he did not worry too much, for he had a plan to roll in buckets of Moolah, to set him up for life. He nodded to his small group of ‘’hired’’ native’s ‘’Go on then, I don’t pay you to stand their gawping! I pay you to work!’’ he shouted, as they scurried off to the tree line.
Action: Using hired natives from the local town, found a small lumber yard.
The World in which we find ourselves
Just to the west of one of the Largest Industrialist population centre’s lies a small town named Little Yolkton, considered by many to be ripe for exploitation. The town is overrun with immigrants from the other side of Mudos, bird like things by the name of ‘’Clakkers’’. A good supply of labour many think.
To the north of this town lies lush farmland, with the apex northern line leading to a forest, in which Mudokon and other natives dwell. To the west of the town a large river lies, and to the towns east, hills and mountains ripe with mineral riches. Of course, to the South of the aforementioned settlement lies that large Industrialist city, to which any and all products can be sold and of course, mercenaries, and Investors found.
What happens now, is up to you.

Personality: Your average, profit minded exploitation loving Glukkon
Bio: Born in the big city, Borik worked for most of his younger days as a junior supervisor over natives in a small mine. However, his lust for wealth was too great, and his job did not match his ambitions, so he upped sticks, and went out to start his own business!
Character Name: Shmicheal
Appearance: Radiation from the Clakker television has mutated him to have a large nose. He is also fat, and has a handlebar moustache. He wears a torn black T-shirt and Juice-stained Khakis. He also has broken sunglasses and "Air Jordan" like shoes.
Personality: Spacey, uses uneccesary slang words, tries to act cool by imitating Clakker tv shows, doesn't know much about how to interact in civilized society.
Biography: Abandoned outside of a Volcano, He crawled behind the couch in a Clakker living room eating leftover tortilla chips. He learned basic English by watching reruns of old Clakker teen dramas. One night he escaped and robbed a sporting goods store. Nobody was fooled by his disguise of a backwards baseball hat and Air Glukkon shoes. He was put in a circus, convincing the entire town that all Mudokons were mindless idiots. He escaped and took up residency in a nearby Mudokon Village where he gathers Popberries to feed his tribe. He wants to prove to the Industrialists that he isn't a moron.
