OddChat Fixed

After being forwarded some information from one of Max the Mug's contacts (namely Kellie), I endeavoured to seek a replacement for OddChat. I have come across one, recommended by this informant. For the members who use the browser based OddChat, you will notice that the older panel has been replaced by a more high-tech and over-filled panel.

For those of you who use the mIRC client, or any other IRC client for that matter, you can connect as usual to OddChat using the following parameters:

IRC Server: irc.nitrousnet.net
Port(s): 7000

OddChat Operators should send me a private message with their nickname, and I will add you back to the access list. Operators will notice quite a difference, as there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of new features.

A thing though. When loading up oddchat, my firewall popped up and asked me if I wanted to use my computer as a server...I clicked "no," and OddChat worked fine...at least everything seemed fine. What's up with this, Alcar?

I don't understand how OddChat has been working for you, SS. The server which OddChat used to use doesn't actually exist anymore, and until Alcar just now registered it again, OddChat did not exist.

This must be some bizarre form of cache the like of which the world has never seen.

And what's all this 'contact' and 'informant' stuff, Alcar? I must have been pretty out of it to give you that impression. Me, or you, of course.

Oddguy, I actually clicked yes. Although seeing as you picked no, I would advise everyone else to click no. As for what it means, I don't know.

Yep, that's what I thought you meant. Just I read you as implying it was a personal contact of mine, whereas Kellie is an OddChat regular. Or was, at least.

And sligslinger, there is no possible way you could connect to the OddChat server. The actual server module for IRC is gone, no cache can create a temporary IRC module on a remote server.

Not only does Oddchat now work, but it's now fast enough for me to access it!

It's also ever-so-slightly too big for the space it's given on the page. Can anyone else see a Window scroll bar to the right? (I don't mean the grayed one at the edge, or the blue one in the appalet.)

Great to be able to chat again.

Honestly, it was working for me but I stopped going when the "Oddchat Anyone?" thread came around, I went once and it still worked so I don't know what happened. Kellie, my old girlfriend on Oddchat? She stopped going as much because noone she knew seemed to go anymore. She doesn't love me as much anymore because I freaked her out with Freddy Kruegar-talk.

Bah. Now I have ot register my nick again and everything. Despite the fact I actually went to the point of getting the auth code sent to me, I never bothered loading it back up. Whatever, though, I'll do whatever later.

When I click on Oddchat, I get a security warner asking me to download summing from an untrusted root so I click no, then when the page loads it says it's connecting but then it says Unable to connect : null

Nads, I'm pretty sure that you're being asked to download the programme needed for Oddchat. In a sence, you're refusing to download Oddchat itself. I get the same message.

It's not too big a deal. If you're still not sure, try a freinds computer first!
